Mini game in Processing

Kessel Run screen shot

Just wanted to share a mini Star Wars-themed space adventure game  I made over the summer using Processing. Processing is an open-source programming language, development environment, and online community dating back to 2001. For a great community of example projects visit OpenProcessing.org.

The simple nature and graphics of the game necessitated some sweet retro game packaging be designed (shown below) as a fun addition to the project requirements. Luckily I was able to create a vector drawing of the Millennium Falcon and incorporate it as my game piece. Processing has great compatibility with Illustrator artwork, and as you collect “spice” in the game the ship gets larger with seamless scaling of the vector art. Unfortunately it’s near-impossible to embed a Processing sketch into WordPress, so click on the start screen below for a direct link to the game at OpenProcessing. Enjoy.
